Perpetual Adoration Chapels
Fr. Ed Benioff - Added on Monday, August 11, 2014

The Bible tells us to honor our parents. It also says we should honor civil and religious authorities. And, as good Christians, we pay those people the respect they’re due.

But there’s a kind of honor we must give only to God. That’s the honor of adoration, or worship. Below is a list of chapels in Los Angeles that offer perpetual Adoration as well as a list of prayers for your reference.

Prayer to Discern a Vocation

Lord, there are so many things in my life that I do not understand, so many questions about the future that I need to ask.
What is Your plan for me?

What is the work You want me to do?

All I really know is that You love me.
Show me the road You want me to walk –
to fulfillment, to happiness, to holiness. And if You are calling me to priesthood or to the religious life, give me the strength to say “yes” and the grace to begin even now to prepare myself for the chal- lenge of a life spent in Your service and in the care of Your people. I ask You this in Jesus’ Name.

Amen.

Theodore Cardinal McCarrick Archbishop Emeritus of Washington

Prayer to Know One’s Vocation

Lord, my God and my loving Father, you have made me to know you, to love you, to serve you, and thereby to find and to fulfill my deepest long- ings. I know that you are in all things, and that every path can lead me to you.

But of them all, there is one especially by which you want me to come to you. Since I will do what you want of me, I pray you, send your Holy Spirit to me: into my mind, to show me what you want of me; into my heart, to give me the determination to do it, and to do it with all my love, with all my mind, and with all of my strength right to the end. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen

Magnificat

My soul magnifies the Lord And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; Because He has regarded the lowliness of His handmaid; For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed; Because He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name; And His mercy is from genera- tion to generation on those who fear Him. He has shown might with His arm, He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and has ex- alted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. He has given help to Israel, his servant, mindful of His mercy Even as he spoke to our fathers, to Abra- ham and to his posterity forever.
